Brew & Note is built to work for everyone, regardless of ability or the device you're reading it on. This page explains what that means in practice, and how to reach us if something doesn't work as it should. Last reviewed 4 October 2026.
Conformance target
Our standard
This site is designed and tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA — the standard most commonly required for public-facing websites. We treat this as a floor, not a ceiling, and keep improving as issues are found.
What's built in
How this site was built to be accessible
Semantic HTML
Every page uses proper heading order, landmarks (header, main, nav, footer), and native elements — real <button>s and <details> disclosures instead of styled <div>s — so screen readers and other assistive technology can navigate the structure correctly.
Colour contrast
Text and interactive elements are checked against WCAG's minimum contrast ratios — 4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text and graphical objects — using automated tooling (axe DevTools) as part of every content update.
Keyboard access
Every interactive control — navigation links, the mobile menu, the flavour wheel's segments, the quiz, the History timeline — can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring that follows the site's own colour palette rather than a generic browser default.
Reduced motion
Visitors who set prefers-reduced-motion in their operating system will see the same content, but with scroll animations, hover transitions, and the loading screen all reduced to near-instant — nothing here relies on motion to be usable.
Descriptive labels
Icons, images, and interactive widgets carry meaningful alt text and aria-labels, so a screen reader announces what a control does rather than just "button."
Responsive by default
Layouts reflow for narrow screens and larger text sizes without content being clipped or requiring horizontal scrolling, and touch targets are sized for real fingers, not just cursors.
Known limitations
Where we're still working
No site is perfectly accessible, and we'd rather say so than pretend otherwise. If you hit a genuine barrier anywhere on this site — a control you can't reach, text you can't read, motion you can't turn off — we want to know about it so it can be fixed.
Get in touch
Report an accessibility issue
If any page, feature, or piece of content on Brew & Note is difficult to access or use, please tell us — including the page you were on, what assistive technology or browser you were using, and what happened. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports promptly and fix confirmed issues as quickly as we reasonably can.
